Client: MoonXcribe
The Brief
We were approached with a really interesting project recently that involved space! Our inner and outer geeks were really excited about this project!
The premise of MoonXcribe is that space travel and transport to the moon will be the next big growth sector, which presents a unique opportunity for entrepreneurial people within the space sector to create a business that allows you to inscribe a message of your choice on the surface of the moon.
Whilst this isn’t possible yet, predictions are that within the next 5-10 years, trips to the moon by private companies will be much more common. The digital website aspect would be to allow the early crowdfunding of this to take place with members of the public.
The website would need to be able to allow sign-ups, take donation payments as well as explain the reasoning of the mission and be backed up by detailing that the team behind this idea are not chancers, but very credible, respectable people, already working in senior departments within the space sector.
Strategy & Approach
Whilst the message and category of this website were very different from anything we had done before, the strategy and technology behind it were the same as other e-commerce websites. We used WordPress as a CMS so that the content could be created and managed easily.
The e-commerce set-up was achieved with WooCommerce, adding a $20 donation as a product so that payment could be made through the website.
Due to the purpose of the website being fundraising, there would be a clear need for communications and updates on a regular basis for people who make a donation and those who are interested in the project, so we used Mailchimp as a way to sign people up to a regular newsletter that would be sent out for information updates on a regular basis.
