WordPress Training

WordPress is easy to use, simple to update content management system used by millions of people around the world. However, the interface is only simple to use compared to other content management systems and only when you know how to use it.

If you are a complete beginner with websites and WordPress in general. You may not know how to get to the admin pages. Let alone create and edit blog posts.

Is An Online Course Good For Me?

There are thousand’s of different tutorials online with many videos shared for almost all problems that you could encounter whilst using WordPress. You can use to start on your process of updating and managing your website. Many of which will promise that you will become a WordPress expert overnight.

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to learn everything about WordPress in one night! You may pick up some basics. However, without any prior knowledge, you will be learning new things for weeks, if not months. If you also factor in learning required elements of HTML and CSS then you’re going to be VERY busy with a steep learning curve.

If you decide that this is the route that you want to go down, ask yourself a few questions:

  1. Who do I ask if I get stuck?
If you are looking through a forum and you don’t understand the questions or the answers then who do you ask? Many times the questions that people ask in these forums are technical. Usually, the answers are even more so. Then, detail making changes to the PHP core files that if you are not a developer or are not comfortable editing these files, then it is not recommended that you do this.
  2. Do I have the time to learn this by myself?
Learning a new skill such as WordPress will be very time-consuming. Simply searching for the information that you need can take up hours of time. This includes information that is out of date, or not as relevant as described.

Each website is unique

WordPress websites use themes to make the design changes across the website. Each theme is different and provides different options. There is no all-inclusive general training course that can cover each theme. However, knowing what theme you have on your website can help tailor the training, showing you what your website can and can’t do.

Many people will ask the person who created their website for help to learn. However, a WordPress designer may not be a professional trainer and you may not get the best results back for the investment.
